As for this compilation, it's decent. It's a pretty broad and rather populist perspective on all that was going on in those weird "explosive" 90's. Sure, stuff is missing. Mr. Whippy cited "Teen Spirit," which is a glaringly obvious omission for anything claiming to be a representation of 90's rock. But there's also no Teenage Fanclub, no Matthew Sweet, no Belly, no Green Day, no Breeders, no R.E.M., no Radiohead, no Beck, no Cracker, no "grunge" to be had at all (some would argue that's a good thing)...the list goes and goes. But such is the case with comp CDs. Logistics are involved with labels and rights and whatever else... I'm sure the powers behind this had a wonderful, great big long list of stuff they wanted on here, but just couldn't get the rights to add.

So all in all, you're left with just an average representation of the more mainstream end of the spectrum of 90's rock, which all in all isn't such a bad thing. Chances are, if you're even considering a purchase like this, it's because you already have some of this stuff and you'd just like one handy disc on which to enjoy it all. So you're already aware of its attributes and its shortcomings and you're cool with it. However, if you're looking for a more accurate account of what was going on then, well I'm sure there's a huge 15 CD box set somewhere with your name on it.

Oh, but...at what point in history did Len become a ROCK band?

Finally, another unnecessary compilation CD with many songs you don't want but also with songs you actually want! Congratulations to the folks at Razor and Tie, their good songs/bad songs ratio is an amazing 5:1, but let's face it, most of these bands weren't that great and had only one good song-which is on here.

Cases in point: Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy." Do we know any other songs by Marcy Playground? I don't. Whatever happened to Deep Blue Something? Where's Soul Asylum when you need them? Dog's Eye View, come back, all is forgiven! I don't know much about Tracy Bonham or Len either-and those are just a few of the great songs on the album.

But what is Porno for Pyros' "Pets" doing here? Perry Farrell evidently wasn't thinking when he wrote this stinker, because it's a snoozefest, going about half as fast as his other band's song, "Been Caught Stealing." (Boy, I do miss Jane's Addiction.)

Nonetheless, this is a good CD for filling out those holes in your collection. Believe me, you won't want to buy snoozefests like the Verve Pipe's "Villains," and Eagle-Eye Cherry's-um, whatever he did, so just get this CD and avoid the stuff you really hate!

You know all those songs you hear and hear and hear, and you know all the words to them, but you have no idea who they're by and havent heard anything like it since?

That's this CD

The first time I popped this CD into my boombox I was singing along all the way from Mr. Jones to Save Tonight. This CD symbolizes my childhood. The Freshman is my favorite on it, I have always absolutely loved that song. I hadnt heard the last two female-vocalled songs on the CD before, but theyre a nice addition. This CD is well worth the money

Everyone associates songs to events in their lives and listening to them takes you back to that place in time. In my humble opinion there isn't a miss on the entire CD-- they really did a great job of pulling in songs from the entire decade, and each one has a memory attached to them. At least for me. :) Back then, yeah, they played the songs non-stop and you pulled your hair out waiting for bands like Deep Blue Something to drift back into obscurity (which they promptly did!). But 7 years later we're all older and wiser, and listening to "Breakfast at Tiffany's" doesn't seem so bad anymore.

This CD is awesome...I can't say enough about it. I remember sitting in my mom's car and hearing these songs on the radio, and now to have them all on one CD is just great! These songs come along with memories, and I think that anyone born in the early to mid eighties can relate to the way I feel.

On a more technical note, the artists on this album are out of this world! Groups such as the Counting Crows and Eagle Eye Cherry have great songs and sound wonderful. One can relate to every song on a personal level, and I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is looking for a fun, fabulous CD!

In Conclusion, I recommend this CD HIGHLY...I think anyone who loves 90's music will enjoy this very much! Have a great day and enjoy your listening experience if you decide to get this CD.
