Description

When it comes to money, are you controlled by fear?
Do you underestimate your worth?
Are you ready to go to the next level, but can't seem to get there?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be an underearner. Underearners are self-saboteurs who don't live up to their earnings potential, says Barbara Stanny, a financial educator, motivational speaker, and career counselor. Whether they make $10 an hour or six figures a year, they tend to live paycheck to paycheck, are often in debt, and have a high tolerance for low pay. Ironically, many work incredibly hard. The good news is that underearning is a self-imposed condition. By focusing on overcoming it, underearners will not only earn what they deserve, but live a richer life. With techniques and exercises that have helped thousands of people, Stanny teaches five essential steps to financial independence and brings a message of empowerment to all those who chronically undervalue themselves.

This book is filled with powerful, practical processes for supporting us in transforming not only our relationship with money but with ourselves. I've come to realize that my whole life I've struggled with low self esteem and that's now shifting dramatically. I highly recommend this book!

5She Walks Her Talk  Mar 17, 2011 By MicheleT
I had the pleasure of taking Barbara's class on this subject and she is truly and authentic person who wants people to live their ultimate life. I use this book as a daily guide to get me on track to increase my earnings. I am self employed as a holistic health practitioner and creme artisan and had not realized that I had not truly valued the work I do. Barbara really teaches you how to empower yourself and move forward and upward in your life. I value her work so much I have bought copies and given it as gifts to my friends who are amazing women and have so much to offer. A must read for women! (and men).

5A stet-by-step guide to help you  Sep 02, 2011 By Carolyn Dargevics
I was extremely impressed with this book. The explanations were clear and the questions and exercises were very helpful at uncovering why I didn't charge enough for my work. I now feel very comfortable charging a fair price for my services, and I even get payment up-front before doing any work. In fact, all my contracts are pay as I go, meaning I secure payment first and then do the work. That is a huge change for me.

4GREAT BOOK!!!  Apr 25, 2011 By I. Johnson
A friend mentioned the book to me, after someone mentioned it to her: It's a great book on how self-worth and financial success is related. Barbara does a beautiful job incorporating her own story and the testimonies from workshops!

5Good Advice!  Dec 25, 2011 By Sharon Michaels "SharonMichaels"
Do you feel you are not earning the money you deserve? If you answered "yes" to this question, then I invite you to start reading Overcoming Underearning by Barbara Stanny.

Here are a few of the many pluses of reading and working this book:
· Overcoming Underearning is written in such a way that it is part textbook, part workbook and part personal journal.
· The journal sections seem to be a combination self-study guide and bedside diary.
· At the end of each chapter there are chapter highlights that can be used as a wrap up and a review.
· There are many great quotations about success and money for us to use as motivation and affirmations.

Barbara Stanny takes us though a five-step plan for creating a richer and fuller financial life. She starts with an interesting and thought provoking "Underearning" quiz that will have you answering some thought provoking questions about money. This quiz is designed to help us begin thinking about and understanding the relationship we currently have with money and prosperity.

Personally, I found the section on the "Ten Traits of Underearners" to be especially insightful. I think you'll be surprised with some of the traits and I'll bet you'll also have a few "aha's" the way I did.

Overcoming Underearning is written so each chapter has worksheets to be completed before you go on to the next chapter. These worksheets are again thought provoking, insightful and well worth taking the time to read, study and work.

At the end of the book, you'll find a Glossary of financial terms, a section of Recommended Resources and a page of positive money affirmations.

Barbara Stanny states that underearners have a "high tolerance for low pay." I'm going to recommend this book to any woman who believes she is not making the money she deserves and is ready to take positive action toward becoming more financially secure and independent.

Overcoming Underearning: Overcome Your Money Fears and Earn What You Deserve by Barbara Stanny is a must read if you're ready to begin increasing your earning potential. I recommend you make the time and commit to not only reading this book but to also diligently working the worksheets.
