Good, not great Dec 24, 2010
By Samy Adams Not that impressed with Bradford exchange items....which is unfortunate, as I love Thomas Kinkade's work and his prints.
This music box seems like its solid...however the windup knob on the bottom jutts out just a tad too far....Which means after you wind it up, and place it on the table, the knob will hit the table. Even with the feet there still isnt enough clearance. This is fixed though, by putting some rubber or felt "feet"/pads on the bottom to give the music box the little 1 mm or 2 of clearance to allow the knob to freely turn. I really didnt want to go through all the trouble of mailing it back, and waiting for a replacement. For over a 100 bucks, you would think they would have thought of this. Then again, it might have just been mine.
The other issue..maybe its a minor detail. but the little circle which is supposed to be the ice rink looks pretty cheap. Its pretty thin and you can see down through into the musicbox itself a bit. It would have been nice if they made the circle (which is supposed to be the ice) was a little thick to make it look a little more real...
However I did buy another item (I know this review is just for the musicbox). I ended up buying the Thomas Kinkade village (5x7") model. With a tiny train that encircles the village. Even with the new batteries, the train only moved a couple inches, then stopped completely.
so far im 0/2..so i dont know if I want to exchange or return the item. the good news is..it seems as if bradford exchange has a solid return policy, so I'll keep you updated.
